Association of Senior Civil Servants of the Federation, have vowed to occupy the office of the Accountant General, Ahmed Idris until he leaves office.
The Union in a statement in Abuja on Saturday said it has concluded mobilisation of its members to storm the Accountant General’s office in Abuja in order to assist him vacate his seat having attained the statutory retirement age.
The statutory retirement age for civil servants is 60 years or 35 years of unbroken active service, whichever comes first.
The Union said the Accountant General clocked 60 years on Wednesday and should have vacated his office immediately.but had reportedly said that he could not be subjected to the guidelines on retirement in service since he owes his allegiance to the Presidency.
The Union said it iregreted that inspite of the clear conditions on retirement in the civil service,some Heads of Agencies continued to sit tight in their offices refusing to exit the service .
It stated that there are about 200 directors with vast experience to occupy the office of the AGF as stipulated in Section 86 of the 1999 constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
Ahmed Idris was born on November 25, 1960 in Kano.He was appointed the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 .
Idris had been linked to alleged fraudulent activities including acquisition of several properties whose value run into billions of Naira
He had also been alleged to have made a total payment of N173billion into various governmentt accounts without proper verification of the reasons for payment.
