The South South zone of the House of Representatives Members Wives Association (HORNWA) on Saturday ,congregated at the home of Hon and Mrs Enyong representing Uyo Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State in Abuja.
In her remarks, the President of the Association,Mrs Blessing Mutu, wife of Hon Nicholas Mutu, member representing Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said the end of year gathering of members is an annual tradition aimed to take stock of the association’s progress during the outgoing year.
Mutu said that the Association’s plan of action for the year 2020 was abruptly affected by the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic.
She noted that despite the set backs of covid,HORMWA still related with one another in prayer and urged members not to relent.
Speaking on the mission of the Association the deputy coordinator of the group,Mrs Etsu said that HoRMWA was founded by Dame Tumini Ajokun, wife of former Majority leader of the House of Representatives in 2004 .
According to her, the Association which comprises both old and new members wives was revived and given a fillip by the wife of former Speaker of the House, Mrs Gimbia Dogara in all the six geo-political zones in the country .
She however, regretted that since Dogara stepped down,, the association has been inactive in other zones except the South South zone which has remained strong, imbibing the philosophy of the association- Charity and welfare.
The Occasion was attended by members from Akwa Ibom State, Bayelsa,Cross Rivers,Delta,Edo and Rivers.
