
The Zamfara State government has ordered the immediate closure of 10 schools located around towns that share border with neighbouring states of Katsina, Kaduna and Sokoto.
The state Commissioner of Education, Ibrahim Abdullahi who announced this to reporters in Gusau, the state capital said the decision was taken to forestall any form of attack on the schools noting that the three states were prone to banditry.
Abdullahi recalled the attack on Government Science Secondary School in Kankara, Katsina State and assured parents that safety of the students was of utmost importance to the government adding that the government has concluded plans to deploy security operatives to schools unaffected by the closure.
Schools affected are 7 boarding schools and 3 day schools.
The boarding schools are G.S.S in Tsafe,G.S.S in Magaji,G.A.S.S in Zurmi,G.G.S.S in Moriki, and Science Secondary School in Shinkafi,
Others are Science Secondary School in Dansadau, and Science Secondary School in Bukkuyum.
The day schools affected are G.D.S.S in Nasarawa Mailayi,G.D.S.S in Gusami and G.D.S.S in Gurbin Bore.
