The Ondo State Police have arrested a 10 – year- old girl resident in Owode community in Akure North Local Government Area of the state following the killing of her 20- month- old stepbrother.
Suliya Abubakar, who hailed from Sokoto state was alleged to have thrown her stepbrother, Usman Abubakar into a well in their residence.
According to the Police Commissioner,,Bolaji Salami, Suliya had earlier told her father that someone had kidnapped her brother.but later confessed that the boy was inside the well.
She said her action was driven by the constant ill-treatment from her stepmother
Suliya said that sometimes her stepmum would give her food in the plate that her stepbrother excreted in.and would be forced to finish the food
She explained that on the day of the incident, the stepmother had repeated the same ill-treatment and her little brother had followed her to the well to fetch water when a voice whispered to her to push him into the well and she did without knowing it would cause the death of her brother.
The Police said the suspect will soon be charged to court.
