The Governor of Borno State,Prof. Babagana Zulum has lamented the frequent attacks on residents of Borno state by Boko Haram terrorists.
A visibly dissappointed governor asked the Nigerian Army and the federal government to have a rethink on protecting lives and property as the present arrangement has failed
Zulum who was reacting to last friday’s incident of killing and abduction of passengers at Jakana when he visited the town on Monday, said it was disappointing that the Army could not guarantee security of lives along Auno and Jakana towns, which in the last two years have seen frequent attacks.
According to him, the distance between the two communities is not more than 20 km and wondered why the Army could sustain the hope of defeating Boko Haram if they could not stop such attacks from happening in the area.
He also chided the security team set up by his government for lack of foresight over areas prone to frequent Boko Haram attacks.and urged them to show capacity for the sake of human lives.
