
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Wednesday morning visited Sokoto state to commissirate with the government and and people of Sokoto State over Tuesday’s fire incident that ravaged the Sokoto Central market.
Wike who expressed shock over the disaster pledged N500million to the State government for rebuilding the market and cushioning the effect of the affected traders.
A statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Sokoto Governor,Aminu Tambuwal, Muhammed Bello quoted Wike as saying that his administration would do all it takes to ensure that the affected market is reconstructed and becomes functional, adding what affects Sokoto also concerns Rivers.
According to the statement, Tambuwal had taken Governor Wike around the gutted area where he explained that 60 percent out of the 16,000 shops in the market were destroyed by the fire.
