
Ondo residents march on Akure in support of herdsmen 7 days vacation order
Residents of Ondo State on Thursday ,stormed the streets of Akure, the state capital to show support for Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s order asking Herdsmen to vacate the state’s forest reserves within 7 days.
Akeredolu’s order earlier in the week met stiff resistance from the Presidency, but the protesters carrying different placards showing the herdsmen as criminals, urged the governor not to rescind the directive
The protesters drawn from several groups including the Road Transport Workers Union, said the presence of the herdsmen had made the state unsafe for drivers and commuters
Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers,Jacob Adejo said the protest was to show solidarity with the governmentt for the 7 days ultimatum given to herdsmen to forestall further attack and kidnapping of members and by herdsmen
