The Nigeriian Army has said that it would take advantage of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in degrading enemies propaganda and radicalization just as “the adversary is increasingly leveraging ICT to bolster capability and vigorously employing the social media for its propaganda and radicalisation.”
The Chief of Army Staff,Maj Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru stated this on Tuesday at the start of a week- long workshop on Office Management and Document Security,organised by 1 Division, Nigeriian Army., Kaduna.
Attahiru who was represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division,Maj,Gen Usman Muhammad, said that the army would deploy relevant skills in safeguarding operational plans and others,as part of strategies to ensure success in ongoing operations.
The Army chief observed that the army had yet to aggressively exploit the social media platforms in combating the security threats adding that it was important to improve combat skills alongside skills required to efficiently manage its offices and safeguard information and information infrastructure..
According to him, grooming of the Army’s clerks on office management and the security of documents of the establishment are important and “should therefore not take a back row,”. adding that the Nigeriian Army must see ICT as an essential tool that must be efficiently employed.
