The Governor of Bauchi state,Bala Mohammed has called on herdsmen to engage in activities that do not profile them as criminals.
To this end he has urged them to make sure they do not carry AK-47 but fish out criminal elements amongst them .
Governor Mohammed was speaking during the official launch of the 2021 annual livestock vaccination campaign at Alambe cattle ranch in Bauchi.
” In as much as we tried to protect them and show Nigerians that they can not be profiled badly,they should also make effort to show that yes, majority of them are good citizens and they are contributing positively to the growth and development of Nigeria and urged them to to remain peaceful.
The governor however, said he had no apologises for his comment on Fulani profiling as there is no tribe that is free from criminality.hence, it was not intended to cause tension in the land or spark unnecessary controversy, adding we t have made the points and Nigerians across the board have discussed it, and I am happy to say that from all indication, majority of sensible Nigerians have apprehended what we have said.And that is the point.
,” I must call on our brothers the Fulanis to make sure that they make their activities free of criminality. They must make sure that they fish out the bad eggs amongst them because criminality is criminality” he said.
He assured them of his government’s commitment to their welfare at all times.
