A young girl was crushed to death in an accident involving a truck and a commercial motorcycle around Somorin Junction,Obanikoro on the Abeokuta- Ibadan road.
The Spokesman of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (,TRACE), Ogun state Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Sunday.
Akinbiyi said the accident involving a DAF truck marked MNA 618ZY and Bajaj motorcycle marked AKM 570IV occurred around 7.20 on Saturday evening ,and was caused by reckless driving on the on the part of the motorcycle rider.
He said the rider, overtook the truck through walkway and fell while trying to maneuver back to the tarred portion of the road
” The three casualities involved in the crash are the motorcycle rider,his two passengers,who were the deceased and her mother.”
The mother was said to have sustained injuries while the motorcycle rider escaped the accident.
He explained that the injured mother was rescued to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta ,while the corpse of her daughter was deposited at the same hospital mortuary.
Adebiyi cautioned motorcycle riders against reckless driving to avoid accident.
