Son of late Chadian President,Mahamat, has reportedly executed some Army Generals while arresting other generals including his father’s ADC.
The report which was posted on the official media page on Twitter of the media aide to the President of the Senate,Abu Sadiq reads
” The Interim Head of State in Chad has already began to show he is in charge. Some army generals have reportedly been executed, while some including the late father’s ADC are under arrest.
” Is Derby’s death truly caused by what was reported or something else? he asked
Idris Derby was killed in frontline of battle aganst rebels in the northern part of the country.
Derby’s death comes a day after he was re- elected president for the sixth term in the landlocked North Central African Country.
Derby forced himself to power in 1990 through a coup d’etat and ruled the country for 30 years with pockets of unsuccessful rebellions targeted at distabilising his government
Following his death, a transitional council of military officers in a statement broadcast on state television immediately named his ,37 year- old- son,Mahamat as successor in an Interim arrangement.
The unfolding drama in Chad has attracted series of reactions from Nigerians.
A retired Civil servant who preferred to be anonymous said that the late president clearly paid for his sins having swooped onto power by the the sword.
” He who lives by the sword dies by the sword. This is what has happened to Idris Debby.
” See hypocrites! Why should his son takeover,? They are running a constitutional democracy .Where is his Vice? She asked
Another Nigerian, Tom urged Nigerian government to close the border with Chad to forestall a similar occurrence in the country.
According to him, what happened in Chad was thought provoking as it showed that every evil act had its end time.
” How can one person hold on to power for 30 years? What kind of country is that? And his son has taken over and killing people?
” Let Government close its border with Chad now. This country has a lot of challenges already so that terrorists won’t capitalise on the situation in Chad and overrun Nigeria.
” If I may ask, Is Chadian government hereditary? “
