Security operatives have unravelled the mystery behind the fire incident at popular Ebeano supermarket outlet in Abuja.
A CCTV camera made available to the social media revealed how a nine year old girl entered the premises of the supermarket accompanied by a Lady said to be her aunt. The girl later on, made her way to the area where kitchen equipment including combustibles were neatly arranged, took up a lighter and allegedly put fire to items within her reach.
The fire which started small went up in flames in seconds without anyone, particularly, supervisors noticing smell and the wreak of havoc done to the supermarket.
But how could a 9 – year old girl destroy a mall built with several millions of naira? How could she do that unaided ? Was she sent by rivals in the supermarket store chain to burn off the much patronised Ebeano supermarket? What kind of upbringing does she have? Is she mentally sick or spiritually possessed to manifest witchcraft to the supermarket in order to cripple the booming economic activities there or it was something else? These are some of the questions Ebeano customers and concerned Abuja residents are asking.
Ebeano supermarket is located at the Lokogoma axis of Abuja and accessible either through Gudu Spare parts market junction road or Lokogoma highway.
Following the deplorable situation of the Gudu made -shift access road and the massive flooding in that axis during the rains, the Supermarket rook it upon itself to construct and deliver about 2 km road to the public plying the route.
That feat demonstrated by Ebeano was rare and it was applauded by thousands of residents around the Gudu- Galadimawa- Lokogoma and Apo areas
The impact of the fire was so much that 4 days after the incident, thick smoke was observed coming out of the top floor.
As of now only the structure of the supermarket and brand name without its ambience is standing tall.
