Members of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP are meeting at the party secretariat on Thursday in Abuja to discuss burning issues affecting the party including gale of defections and resignation in the National Working Committee of the party.
The meeting was reportedly presumed to decide the fate of the National Chairman of the party,Prince Uche Secondus who cried out over attempt by a Strong Chieftain doing all he can ” to highjack the party structure and install a caretaker committee to overturn the party’s planned convention in December.
The BoT Chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin said the meeting was crucial in view of emerging challenges in the party.
Jibrin who stated that the ruling party has failed the country regretted the infighting within the PDP.
The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike was said to be the only non BoT member that attended the meeting.
Wike’s presence has raised dust about who the PDP chairman had referred to as the mystery “Strong Chieftain and Father Christmas.’
Secondus through his Media aide Ike Abonyi had in a statement on Wednesday urged the public “to look out for strange deployment of luring gifts from this destructive father Christmas all aimed at having a grip of the soul of the party by a caretaker committee”
Before Wike sauntered into the meeting ground, the arrow of accusation was pointing towards the direction of the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar who recently, visited Wike in Government House to hatch a take over plan from the APC government in 2023.
